Job summary

A-Jay Excavating Inc. is seeking experienced wet utility pipe layers to join our underground construction crew in California. This hands‑on field role focuses on installing underground piping systems in accordance with project plans and safety requirements.

You will work closely with foremen, operators, and laborers, setting and connecting pipe, reading grade stakes, and ensuring proper trench prep and material inspection. Commitment to quality workmanship is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in underground wet utility or pipeline construction preferred.
• Ability to read project plans and specifications.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Install underground wet utility pipe in accordance with project plans and specifications.
• Assist with the installation of water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
• Set, align, grade, and connect pipe accurately.
• Install fittings, valves, manholes, structures, and related components.
• Read grade stakes and maintain line and grade.
• Prepare trenches and pipe bedding for installation.
• Work with foremen, equipment operators, laborers, and crew members.
• Assist with excavation, backfill, compaction, and jobsite cleanup.
• Inspect pipe and materials before installation and report defects.
• Follow all company and jobsite safety procedures.
