Job summary

Paulus is seeking a skilled Pipelayer to join our wet utilities team in California. You will install underground pipelines for water, sewer, and storm drain systems on commercial and municipal projects, working with crews to ensure proper alignment and safety.

This role requires physical stamina, ability to read drawings, and adherence to OSHA and company safety policies. Experience with trenching, backfilling, and piping installation is preferred, with a focus on quality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ pipelaying or underground utility installation experience.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with wet utility systems (water, sewer, storm drain).
• Understanding of trench safety and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lay and align pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.
• Grade trenches and culverts using hand tools and levels.
• Cut pipes to required lengths and bevel ends for welding or sealing.
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using welding equipment, cement, or glue.
• Install manholes, catch basins, and other related structures.
• Excavate, dig, and backfill trenches using hand tools or equipment as needed.
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and work cooperatively with crew members.
