Laborer / Pipe layer
About Us:
A-Jay Excavating is General Engineering Contractor specializing in heavy civil infrastructure, earthmoving and underground utilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Preparation: Clear construction sites of debris, brush, and hazards. Dig trenches, backfill excavations.
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport construction materials, heavy equipment, and tools to and from designated work areas.
- Utility & Pipe Work: Assist pipelayers in assembling, laying, and securing water, sewer, and storm drain pipes.
- Concrete & Asphalt: Help pour, smooth, and level concrete and asphalt. Assist in setting forms and breaking up old pavement using jackhammers.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate motorized equipment such as jumping jack , viber plate , rollers, concrete saws, and Power tools.
- Site Maintenance: Clean and maintain work areas, ensuring all tools and equipment are secured, cleaned, and properly stored at the end of each shift.
- Grade Checking: Assist the foreman or lead checking elevations and slopes to ensure proper grading.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to all OSHA and company safety regulations, including wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: 1+ years of general construction labor experience, specifically in heavy civil, underground utilities, or heavy earthwork.
- Grade Checking : Basic knowledge of grade checking and experience using laser levels (or reading grade stakes).
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform strenuous physical labor in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly.
- Licensing: Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record. OSHA 10-Hour Certification is preferred.
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and available to work early mornings, overtime, and occasional weekends.
Physical Demands:
The work requires constant bending, kneeling, walking, and standing on uneven surfaces for long periods.
