Job summary

Endurance Mining is seeking an experienced Underground Ventilation Engineer to join our Mining team at Abra Mine Site. You will oversee all ventilation systems, ensure compliance with WA mining regulations, and hold the Underground Ventilation Officer role under WHS reforms.

You will apply Deswik and Ventsim for planning, conduct surveys and gas monitoring, and provide technical advice to cross-functional teams to safeguard the underground workforce.

Qualifications

• Requires tertiary qualification in mining-related field and ventilation experience.
• Experience as Underground Ventilation Officer is essential.
• Strong planning, reporting and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and optimise underground ventilation systems and ducting.

Endurance's Abra Mine is located approximately 220km north of Meekatharra, in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The underground mine represents one of the world's cleanest and largest lead-silver projects.

The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Underground Ventilation Engineer to join our Mining team at Abra Mine Site. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will play a critical role in the safety and wellbeing of our underground workforce, overseeing all ventilation systems and holding the statutory position of Underground Ventilation Officer under the WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and optimise underground ventilation systems, including fans, regulators, doors, stoppings and ducting
• Conduct routine ventilation surveys, airflow measurements, gas monitoring and environmental inspections
• Maintain and update ventilation plans, models and airflow simulations, and ensure compliance with WA mining legislation
• Provide technical advice to mining and engineering teams on ventilation requirements for planned works
• Identify ventilation‑related hazards, implement appropriate controls, and verify compliance with exposure limits
• Support emergency preparedness, including fire response and smoke management strategies
• Deliver ventilation awareness training to operational personnel and lead continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in a mining‑related discipline
• Passed Underground Legislation Ventilation Officer Exam
• Completed WHS Risk Management Units
• Minimum 2 years' underground experience, including 6 months working with a ventilation officer (or previous appointment as Underground Ventilation Officer)
• Current WA 'C' Class driver's licence
