Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Underground Transmission Line Design Lead to guide HV/EHV cable design and multi-disciplinary teams in North America. You will lead technical design, consulting engagements, and business development activities while mentoring engineers.

The role requires a PE license, 10+ years in engineering with 5+ years in underground/subsea cable design, and willingness to travel. A hybrid work model with comprehensive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years engineering industry experience with at least 5 years in underground/subsea cable design and installation.
• Professional Engineer (PE/PEng) license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in consulting, utility, developer, or EPC environments.
• Ability to work with cable design software such as CYMCAP, Pull-Planner, etc.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and CIGRE standards.
• Experience working with major global cable OEMs.
• Ability and willingness to travel within North America.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and line management for engineers on underground transmission projects.
• Develop HV/EHV cabling system specifications, design review, estimation, and field support.
• Provide technical support on HV cable system engineering and design.
• Prepare power cable route specifications, technical specs, reports and progress updates.
• Coordinate interfaces with other engineering functions and stakeholders.
• Lead internal/external meetings with clients and subcontractors.
• Perform technical calculations and design verification.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews.
