Job summary

Westwood Professional Services is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented Underground Transmission Designer to join the Transmission Engineering Group in Plano, TX. The role combines drafting civil/electrical drawings with design work for energy infrastructure projects and requires coordination with engineers and consultants to develop drawings and ensure quality.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting or engineering.
• 5+ yrs CAD experience in electric utility context, underground HV design.
• Knowledge of industry standards and general design practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and accept feedback.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changes.
• Graduate of AutoCAD program or a related Eng tech degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• CAD drafting of engineering deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers and drafters to resolve drawing discrepancies.
• Complete design tasks under supervision of engineering staff.
• Self-checks to ensure accuracy before review by supervisor.
• Meet project schedules and quality requirements.
• Deliver high-quality deliverables meeting industry standards.
• Assist in project delivery including meetings and communications.
• Provide interdepartmental support as required.
