Job summary

Stancil Services is seeking an Underground Plumbing Helper to work on new homes and townhomes in Concord, North Carolina. You will assist plumbers, read blueprints, and help install and maintain plumbing systems on-site.

You must be able to measure, cut, and fit pipe, work safely with hand and power tools, and cooperate with the project team to meet deadlines. OSHA10 is preferred, with a high school diploma or GED required.

• Basic knowledge of plumbing materials and piping sizes.

• OSHA10 preferred.
• Must be able to pass a physical examination and obtain a medical card

Responsibilities

• Assist in installing and maintaining plumbing systems.
• Read blueprints and drawings to determine exact specs.
• Determine water supply networks and waste drainage systems.
• Coordinate with project manager on installation.
• Install systems to transport water, waste, gases, or liquids.
• Select materials for installation including pipe type/size.
• Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment.
• Assemble and install valves and fittings.
• Observe pressure gauges to fix leaks.
• Test pipe systems and fix leaks.
• Ensure installations are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded.
• Experience reading drawings.
• Extensive knowledge of installing and maintaining plumbing systems.
• Safe working knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Work from ladders for extended periods.
• Measure, cut and assemble pipe, placing the assembled pipe in hangers or other supports.
• Cut or drill holes in walls or floors to accommodate the passage of pipes.
• Perform rough-ins, repair and replace fixtures and water heaters, and locate, repair, or remove leaking or broken pipes.
• Assist plumbers in the layout, assembly, and installation of fixtures and materials.
• Requisition tools and equipment; select type and size of pipe and transport materials to site.
• Excavate and grade ditches and lay and join pipe for water and sewer service.
• Disassemble and remove damaged pipe.
