Job summary

Sunrock is seeking an experienced Pipe Layer near Durham, NC to install ductile iron, RCP, storm drain, water, and sanitary sewer lines on heavy civil projects. The role favors 1–2+ years on utility or site crews; candidates must safely install pipe to line and grade and work with earthmoving equipment.

Qualified applicants will read grade stakes, use lasers for alignment, and collaborate with operators and foremen.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience installing underground utilities or related pipe systems.
• Experience working around heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, backhoes).
• Ability to read grade stakes and follow line and grade using lasers.

Responsibilities

• Install water, sewer, and storm drainage systems (ductile iron, RCP, PVC, HDPE).
• Set up and align pipe to proper grade using lasers or hand levels.
• Work with excavation equipment during trenching and backfill.
• Assist with grading, trench prep, and bedding installation.
• Follow safety protocols and trench protection requirements.
