Job summary

Sunrock Industries in Durham, NC is hiring a Pipe Layer to install ductile iron, RCP, storm drain, water, and sanitary sewer lines on heavy civil projects. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of utility or site development experience and can install pipe to line and grade safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience installing underground utilities.
• Experience around heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, backhoes).
• Knowledge of ductile iron and RCP pipe installation techniques preferred.
• Ability to read grade stakes and follow line and grade.
• Must have reliable transportation and commute within 60 miles of Durham, NC.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors year-round.
• Commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Install water, sewer, and storm drainage systems (ductile iron, RCP, PVC, HDPE).
• Set up and align pipe to proper grade using lasers or hand levels.
• Work with excavators, backhoes, and dozers during trenching and backfilling.
• Assist with grading, trench preparation, and bedding installation.
• Ensure safety protocols and trench protection at all times.
• Maintain tools, materials, and a clean jobsite.
• Communicate with crew leaders, operators, and foremen.
