Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physical science or engineering with 10 years of mining/hoisting experience.
• Ten years of specialized mining/hoisting experience or twenty years of related knowledge.
• Ability to perform field oversight in underground mining and nuclear facilities.
• Knowledge of DOE, MSHA, OSHA and ASME requirements for mining/hoisting.
• Willingness to work onsite at the WIPP site four days per week on a 4/10 schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of underground salt mining, floor milling, rib cutting, material hauling, and underground haulage operations.
• Monitor ground control activities and evaluate geological conditions.
• Verify training and qualifications of underground crews, radiological control technicians, maintenance personnel, and equipment operators.
• Oversee mining machinery operation and maintenance, including bolters, haulers, loaders, and forklifts.
• Evaluate operations for abnormal events, degraded ground conditions, and equipment malfunctions.
• Verify underground traffic patterns and safety protocols.
• Document field observations and support resolution of safety and operational issues.
