Underground Electrical Estimator: Bids, Takeoffs & Closeouts

Job summary

MLB & Associates in Chattanooga, TN seeks an Estimator to collaborate with clients, vendors, subcontractors and our internal team to create estimates and assemble bids for electrical construction projects.

You will travel to pre-bid meetings and jobsites, manage RFPs, and work with Lead and Senior Estimators to build takeoffs and schedules. This role supports project profitability and workforce optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or equivalent knowledge or skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience.
• 3+ years of estimating experience in the electrical construction field; underground experience required.
• Strong experience in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
• Collaborate with Lead and Senior Estimators to prepare documents for legal review.
• Identify bid type and scope, construction timeframes, materials, and labor expenses, and bonding and bid requirements.
• Travel to and attend pre-bid meetings and/or to jobsites; travel may involve a senior member or be independent.
• Identify potential project risks and discuss with Leads and Senior Estimators.
• Make recommendations on subcontractors and materials and gather quotes.
• Work with Lead and Senior Estimators to perform takeoffs and build project plans and construction plans with supporting docs.
• Collaborate with Lead and Senior Estimators to finalize the schedule and work plan and clarify expectations.
• Complete bid forms, enter information on websites, and prepare final bid for submission with oversight.
• Submit the final bid with leadership approval.
• Assist with labor and equipment rate schedules.
• Collaborate with Project Management and Field Leadership to set up the job correctly.
• Other duties as assigned.
