Job summary

Family Services of the Merrimack Valley, operating Uncommon Threads in Lawrence, MA, seeks a Part-Time Program Assistant (18 hours/week) to support daily operations, client sessions, and referrals between agencies. The role emphasizes bilingual English/Spanish communication, wardrobe support, and data entry in a collaborative nonprofit setting.

The candidate will coordinate sessions, translate when needed, and help expand programming while ensuring compassionate client service in the Merrimack

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of fashion principles and trends, or willingness to learn.
  • Strong computer skills with Google and Microsoft Office; basic database knowledge.
  • Ability to build relationships within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily client operations including calls and wardrobe styling sessions.
  • Schedule client sessions and conduct confirmation calls.
  • Work with the volunteer coordinator to complete sessions.
  • Share community resources with clients.
  • Translate for clients when needed.
  • Enter survey and client data accurately.
  • Support operations with inventory and tasks as assigned.

A. Overview

Founded in 2016, Uncommon Threads is an innovative nonprofit dedicated to empowering women through the transformative power of clothing. Based in Lawrence, MA, we help low-income women rebuild confidence, self-esteem, and hope through personal styling, quality clothing, peer support, and self-esteem workshops. Since our founding, we have served more than 20,000 women and continue to expand our reach and impact.

The Program Assistant willassistin overseeing program operations,strengtheningand expanding programming,andprovideclient support as a liaison between Uncommon Threads and our referring agencies.

The ideal candidate isorganized, with excellent verbal and written skills, bilingual (Spanish/English) and a self-starter who is a flexible, compassionate and a responsible team player. This isa great opportunityto work with the community in a warm and supportive environment committed to making a difference in the lives of women in the Merrimack Valley area.

B. Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assistin the coordination of daily operations relatedto clientcalls, in-person wardrobe styling sessions, Threads toGo (TTG) as well as special programs suchas;Bundle Up, emergency clothing services and women's empowerment workshops.
  • Oversee scheduling ofclient sessions andconductingconfirmation calls.
  • Work withthevolunteer coordinator to complete scheduled sessions.
  • Shareavailablecommunityresources with clients.
  • Send communicationregardingconfirmation ofTTGservices to clients.
  • Assistwithstylingof clients.
  • Translateforclientswhen needed.
  • Complete data entry of survey data, client data,etc. With accuracy.
  • Occasionallysupportoperations coordinatorwith tasks such assorting, hanging,andinventoryintakes.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested by the Director.

C. Required Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to fluently speak and write in both English and Spanish languages.
  • Knowledge of fashion principles and trends or have the desire to learn.
  • Excellent computer skills using platforms such as Google, Microsoft Office,andotherbasicdatabaseknowledge.
  • Ability to buildrelationshipswithin thecommunity andapplicablesocial networks.
D. Preferred Qualifications
  • Creativethinkerwho canthinkout of the boxforsocial mediamarketing strategies that will foster client and community connection.
  • Canva or basic graphic designskills.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • This is a (Part-time), 18hours per week, non-exempt position with a pay of $21.82per hour, commensurate upon experience.
  • Employees working 30 hours or more per work are eligible for competitive health, vision and dental insurance, fully paid life & long-term disability insurance as well as a generous Earned Time Off policy of 4 weeks & 13 paid holidays per year!
  • Employees working below 30 hours per week are eligible to accrue Paid Sick Time beginning on your first day of employment, in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
