Job summary

Coastal Security Services, Inc. (CSSI) is hiring Unarmed Security Officers to cover client sites in Mount Pleasant and the greater Charleston area. Posts include gated residential communities and commercial sites; the work is 24/7 with varying shift lengths.

Pay ranges from $18.00 to $20.25 per hour, with overtime at 1.5x after 40 hours in a work week. Applicants must be 18+, able to obtain SC SLED registration, pass background and drug screening, and hold a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to obtain SC SLED Unarmed Security Officer Registration under CSSI.
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Able to stand, walk, and patrol for a full shift.
• Clear verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Control access at gates, lobbies, and entry points; verify credentials and manage visitors.
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, grounds, and parking areas.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems and respond to incidents, alarms, and medical emergencies.
• De-escalate disruptive situations and coordinate with site staff and local law enforcement.
• Write accurate daily activity reports and incident reports in our mobile reporting system.
• Represent the client and CSSI with a professional appearance and attitude on every shift.

Coastal Security Services, Inc. (CSSI) has provided professional security across South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida since 2006. We staff hospitals, K-12 schools, gated residential communities, industrial sites, and major events.

About the Role

We are hiring Unarmed Security Officers for client sites in Mount Pleasant and the greater Charleston area. Posts include gated residential communities and commercial sites.

This is a standing posting. We hire continuously across our sites in this area, not for one opening. Apply once. If you clear screening, you are placed as soon as a post fits your license, location, and availability. Cleared candidates who are not placed right away stay on file and hear from us first when the next post opens.

What You Will Do

• Control access at gates, lobbies, and entry points; verify credentials and manage visitors

Schedule

Our sites run 24/7/365. Shift length and rotation vary by post (8-hour and 12-hour shifts, days, evenings, and overnights). Full-time and part-time schedules are available. Weekend availability is required for most posts.

Pay

CSSI uses post-based pay: your hourly rate is set by the site you are assigned to. Unarmed posts in this area pay $18.00 to $20.25 per hour, depending on the site. Overtime is paid at 1.5x for all hours over 40 in a work week.

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older
• Ability to obtain SC SLED Unarmed Security Officer Registration under CSSI

Preferred

• Current or prior SC Security Officer Registration
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
• Hospital, residential, or commercial security experience
• Prior military or law enforcement service
