Officers provide visible armed presence, control access, patrol perimeters, respond to incidents, and support drills. Pay starts at $22.50/hr with overtime at 1.5x.

About CSSI

Coastal Security Services, Inc. (CSSI) has provided professional security across South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida since 2006. We staff hospitals, K-12 schools, gated residential communities, industrial sites, and major events. Every officer trains through the CSSI Training Academy, and our leadership team is in the field, not behind a desk.

About the Role

We are hiring Armed Security Officers for posts across Bluffton, Hilton Head Island, Beaufort, Hardeeville, and the Charleston area. Most armed posts are K-12 school campuses, along with hospital campuses, gated communities, and armed event details.

This is a standing posting. We hire continuously across our sites in this area, not for one opening. Apply once. If you clear screening, you are placed as soon as a post fits your license, location, and availability. Cleared candidates who are not placed right away stay on file and hear from us first when the next post opens.

What You Will Do

• Provide a visible, professional armed presence at your assigned campus or site
• Control building and grounds access, screen visitors, and monitor CCTV and alarm systems
• Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, perimeters, and parking areas
• Respond to and de-escalate incidents; coordinate with administrators, staff, and law enforcement
• Support emergency drills and site safety protocols
• Write accurate daily activity reports and incident reports in our mobile reporting system

Schedule

School posts follow the school calendar: Monday through Friday during school hours, with occasional after-hours campus events. Hospital and community posts run 24/7/365 with shift length and rotation set by the post (8-hour and 12-hour shifts, including weekends). Tell us your availability and we match you to the post.

Pay

CSSI uses post-based pay: your hourly rate is set by the site you are assigned to. Armed posts in this area start at $22.50 per hour, with higher rates at select sites. Overtime is paid at 1.5x for all hours over 40 in a work week.

Requirements

• 21 years of age or older
• Ability to obtain SC SLED Armed Security Officer Registration under CSSI before placement
• Proficiency with a handgun
• Must pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and school district screening where assigned
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Composure under pressure and clear verbal and written communication
• Able to stand, walk, and patrol for a full shift

Preferred

• Prior law enforcement, military, or armed security experience
• School, campus, or hospital security experience
• Crisis intervention or de-escalation training
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
