Job summary

South Texas Health System is seeking an unarmed Security Guard to patrol hospital property, monitor access, and report suspicious activity. You will interact courteously with patients, staff, and visitors, following defined guidelines and safety procedures.

The role requires vigilance, flexibility to cover all shifts, and timely reporting of incidents to supervision. The position emphasizes compliance with the organization’s Code of Conduct, licensing requirements, and safe operation of vehicles

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must work efficiently at any time, including nights and irregular hours.
• Commitment to Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; complete required training and report issues.
• High School diploma or GED or higher education required.
• Must obtain Texas DPS Non-Commissioned Security Officer License within 45 days of hire.
• Must possess Texas Operator’s and/or Commercial Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Watch and patrol hospital grounds and property; perform duties unarmed.
• Insure security by walking, driving, and maintaining exits lookout to prevent theft or harm.
• Inspect identification of persons entering restricted areas.
• Observe activity and report unusual events to supervisor or responsible person.
• Perform routine monitoring and reporting according to guidelines.
• Report equipment malfunctions that affect security or well‑being to management.
• Interact with public and staff with courtesy and professionalism.
