Job summary

AGS, an Akima Company, seeks a Detention Officer for the Florence Service Processing Center to ensure detainee safety and security inside the facility. Officers work at unarmed posts, supervise movement, and maintain discipline within the secure perimeter.

Responsibilities include security checks, equipment inventory, functioning radios, detainee processing and escort duties, log entries, and strict adherence to safety policies.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum 1 year security, law enforcement or military experience preferred.
• Pass criminal background and consumer credit checks (no criminal record).
• Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
• Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
• Pass a medical exam and meet health requirements.
• Must be 21+ years old.
• Possess a valid state driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a state security guard license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct security and sanitation checks prior to shift changes.
• Inventory equipment and log results.
• Receive and verify equipment in working order.
• Ensure radio communications are functional with charged batteries.
• Detention, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of detainees as required.
• Maintain order and discipline; supervise detainees as needed.
• Attend to housing, feeding, and detainee well‑being 24/7.
• Record legible, complete entries in post logs.
• Enforce facility rules and safety policies.
• Provide care, custody, and control of detainees.
• Escort detainees during deportation or hearings as needed.
