Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Protection (AIP) is seeking an Armed Detention Officer to safeguard detainees and the public in custody settings, in compliance with DHS/ICE standards. The role requires maintaining professional conduct, fairness, and integrity while enforcing security policies.

This position requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, a valid firearms license, and the ability to obtain state security licenses.

Qualifications

• US citizen or lawful permanent resident
• Pass background and consumer credit check
• Obtain DHS/ICE government clearance
• Pass pre-employment and random drug tests
• Pass medical examination and health requirements
• At least 21 years of age
• Possess valid state driver’s license or CDL
• Possess valid firearm license
• Ability to obtain armed state security guard license (MN or NE)
• One year of Military, Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections experience
• Maintain residency in continental United States
• Maintain physical fitness standards and CDL requirements

Responsibilities

• Guard detainees and the public in custodial or court settings
• Qualify on a standard course of fire twice yearly (up to four times if required)
• Complete training and maintain fitness throughout contract life
• Escort and safeguard detainees and maintain order
• Make entries in processing logs
• Conduct security and sanitation checks
• Inventory equipment and ensure logbook accuracy
• Ensure authorized equipment is in working condition
• Qualify with a company-issued pistol and duty belt
• Complete training including defensive tactics and physical stamina
• Follow safety policies and procedures
