Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to perform ultrasound examinations and assist the Radiologist, maintaining and caring for ultrasound equipment.

You will prepare patients, operate equipment, explain procedures, and document findings. ARDMS SPI and credentialing are required prior to hire, with specialty exams completed within 75 days of starting.

This full-time position is based in New York, offering opportunities to mentor staff in a busy imaging department.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year program in ultrasound/sonography.
• Successful completion of a specialty exam within 75 days of hire.
• Accredited ultrasound training program and ARDMS SPI exam prior to hire.
• ARDMS registration credentialing is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and examines patients, verifies identity, and correlates exams with clinical history.
• Operates ultrasound equipment, performs safety checks, and reports malfunctions.
• Explains procedures to patients and staff; answers questions unrelated to diagnosis.
• Develops/modifies procedure plans and optimizes exam results under supervision.
• Analyzes findings, performs measurements, and follows ARDMS/ACR protocols.
• Notifies providers when immediate care is needed and assesses patient status before discharge.
• Records images and provides preliminary findings to the radiologist.
• Maintains supplies and keeps the work environment clean and safe.
• Mentors new ultrasound personnel and may answer phones or schedule exams.

Education

Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or successful completion of an accredited Ultrasound/Sonography technical training program.

Successful completion of one specialty examination within 75 days from date of hire.

Successful completion of an accredited ultrasound / sonography technical training program (as determined by MSHS) within 4 months of accepting this offer. Successful completion of the MSHS hiring process. Commencing work within 14 days of graduation. Successful completion of ARDMS Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) examination prior to your date of hire.

Current ARDMS Registration Issuing Agency: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
