Qualifications

• Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or successful completion of an accredited Ultrasound/Sonography technical training program.
• Successful completion of ARDMS SPI examination prior to your date of hire.
• Current ARDMS Registration with ARDMS.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and examines all patients, verifying their identity for ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental procedures and techniques, including obtaining health status and medical history.
• Operates and adjusts ultrasound equipment, cleans and makes minor adjustments, taking safety precautions to protect patients and personnel.
• Communicates with the patient, their representative and staff, explaining the exam and instructions.
• Develops and/or modifies a procedure plan to optimize exam results under physician supervision.
• Analyzes sonographic findings to support physician-directed patient management.
• Notifies health care providers when immediate medical attention is needed.
• Records diagnostic images and data for interpretation and archival purposes.
• Helps maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Assists in orientation and mentoring of new Ultrasound personnel.
• May answer telephones, schedule examinations and coordinate transportation.
