Here at Fairview, we are looking for an Ultrasound Technologist to join us at our Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN. This is a casual position and will pick up shifts depending on the needs of the department.

• If the majority of your allocated shift hours are worked between 3pm – 11pm, your hours worked in this shift will receive an additional $6.00 per hour, on top of your base rate & shift differentials.
• If the majority of your allocated shift hours are worked between 11pm – 7am, your hours worked in this shift will receive an additional $8.00 per hour, on top of your base rate & shift differentials.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Performs examinations with technical accuracy and in a timely manner.
• Verifies patient identification and documentation
• Reviews physician order prior to exam or procedure.
• Communicates pertinent information to the appropriate health care professional.
• Achieves quality diagnostic images through accurate patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol.
• Communicates with and educates patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam
• Recognizes structures visualized and understands their significance.
• Accurately produces and records measurements according to protocols. Accurately conveys initial findings and clinical data to radiologists.
• Participates in crafting a culture of patient safety
• Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness for facility
• Ensures patient data integrity
• Accurately completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, billing, and status changes in a timely fashion.
• Performs accurate image identification, record preparation, and digital image manipulation and archiving.
• Assembles similar relevant exams and reports.
• Documents initial and ongoing data, interventions, responses/results, or interventions consistent with established policies/procedures/guidelines.
• Participates as an active team member
• Orients and mentors’ new employees and students.
• Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives.
• Assumes responsibility for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position
• Cleans and maintains rooms and supplies.
• Accepts unique customer service expectations in Imaging
• Accurately operates equipment according to accepted standards and guidelines and according to manufacturers’ Information for Use
• Identifies and responds to equipment problems to ensure equipment is in working order according to Department guidelines.
• Acquires technical proficiency as new technology is introduced into the facility.
• Correctly operates and optimizes the use of equipment and implements downtime procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - must be current and from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ARDMS registered within 1 year of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of hospital based experience
• Proficiency in breast, general, interventional, OB and vascular ultrasound preferred
