Job summary

Aurora Health Care seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac studies. You will review patient history and physician orders, position patients, select transducers, adjust technical factors, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout procedures.

You will document findings, label images accurately, and maintain records in the radiology information system. ARDMS registrations and BLS are required or expected within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography.
• No experience required.
• Competency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures.
• Ability to communicate with patients and caregivers effectively.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and department policies.

Responsibilities

• Competently operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies and differentiates normal from pathologic findings.
• Reviews patient medical records, lab results, and physician orders to ensure exam accuracy.
• Positions patient, selects proper transducer and adjusts technical factors for accurate imaging; ensures patient safety and comfort.
• Uses sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures based on anatomical and diagnostic information.
• Identifies and labels images with patient name, MRU number, and scan location.
• Maintains records and enters study information into the radiology information system; documents billing codes.
• Identifies equipment issues and evaluates new products or equipment for future use.
• Analyzes sonograms and communicates findings to the physician.
