Job summary

New York Imaging in Setauket, NY is seeking an Ultrasound Technician (OBGYN) to join a dedicated imaging team. The role involves performing full OB and GYN ultrasound exams, maintaining equipment, and documenting findings to support patient care.

The position requires RDMS OB/GYN certification and 2+ years of relevant experience, with on-site work and a 3-day work week now, with potential for full-time in the future. Competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent RDMS (OBGYN) certification required.
  • Bachelor's/Associates degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Compliance – Follow all OB/GYN radiology policies and protocols.
  • Ultrasound Imaging – Independently perform OB and GYN ultrasound exams, including transvaginal and fetal assessments.
  • Equipment Maintenance – Perform and document routine maintenance and checks.
  • Reporting – Prepare detailed and clear preliminary impressions to support provider diagnosis.
  • Communication – Relay imaging results promptly to OBGYN providers and radiologists.
  • Urgent Care Support – Expedite emergent OB exams for pregnancy-related conditions.
  • Procedure Assistance – Support physicians during outpatient procedures like sonohysterograms and biopsies.
  • Organization – Maintain workflow efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Technology Use – Use EMRs and imaging software for scheduling and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance – Follow all OBGYN radiology policies and protocols to ensure safe, high-quality imaging and patient care.
  • Cleanliness – Maintain a sanitary, organized, and safe environment aligned with infection control and women’s health standards.
  • Ultrasound Imaging – Independently perform a full range of OB and GYN ultrasound exams, including transvaginal and fetal assessments.
  • Equipment Maintenance – Perform and document routine maintenance and checks to ensure reliable and accurate ultrasound function.
  • Protocol Adherence – Apply and follow established OBGYN-specific lab and imaging protocols to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
  • Reporting – Prepare detailed and clear preliminary impressions to support provider diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Communication – Relay imaging results and observations promptly to OBGYN providers and collaborating radiologists.
  • Urgent Care Support – Expedite emergent OB exams for conditions such as pregnancy complications or abnormal findings.
  • Procedure Assistance – Support physicians during outpatient procedures like sonohysterograms, biopsies, and follicular scans.
  • Organization – Exhibit strong communication and time management skills to maintain workflow efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Technology Use – Operate EMRs and imaging software effectively for scheduling, documentation, and follow-up coordination.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program or equivalent RDMS (OBGYN) certification required

  • Reliable transportation to travel to NYI locations as needed
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand, bend, and sit for prolonged periods
