Job summary

The MetroHealth System in Cleveland is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to perform ultrasound exams ranging from neonatal to adult patients. You will contribute to OB/GYN and abdominal imaging while upholding the system's mission and patient-centered care.

Ideal candidates hold ARDMS RDMS credentials with AB/OB-GYN specialties and have completed a CAAHEP-accredited program, with ongoing professional development and a focus on excellence in imaging and safety.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology program with an advanced certification in Sonography (AB/OB-GYN).
  • Possess the ARDMS RDMS credential with AB or OB/GYN specialty.
  • CAAHEP-accredited diagnostic sonography program and ARDMS registration within 1 year.
  • Registration in OB/GYN, Abdominal, and Pediatric specialties within 3 years.
  • Valid BLS certification from AHA or within probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Uses ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic sonograms from neonates through adults.

Job description

  • Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER
    • Biweekly Hours: 80
    • Shift: Evenings
    • Schedule: 4x10 hr shifts
    • Start/End Time: 2p-12a
    • Weekends: Every other weekend
    • Call: N/A

Primary Skills Utilized/learned
  • Utilizes ultrasound equipment to perform a variety of diagnostic medical sonograms to aid in the diagnosis of disease in neonates through adult patients.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology program with an advanced certification in Sonography (Abdominal and OB/GYN).
  • Possess the Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) with specialties in Abdomen (AB) or Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN).
  • Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and registered by the ARDMS within 1 year of employment with an AB or OB/GYN specialty.
  • Registration in the following specialties must be obtained within 3 years of employment: OB/GYN, Abdominal, and Pediatric*.
  • Valid BLS Certification from the AHA or obtains within the standard probationary period.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Must possess a RDMS credential from ARDMS with a specialty in Obstetrics within 6 months of employment.
  • Must possess or obtain within 12 months of employment one or more OB-specific certifications including the Nuchal Translucency (NT) from the Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) or Nuchal Translucency Quality Review (NTQR).
  • Note: Technologists NOT assigned a rotation to the main hospital ultrasound department are exempted from the Pediatric requirement.
Physical Requirements
  • May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
  • May need to lift, pull or push over 50 lbs.
  • May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
  • Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
