Job summary

Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a UI/UX design and development specialist to rapidly prototype Command and Control systems. You will lead wireframing, data visualization, and cross-team collaboration to advocate for warfighter usability.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree or 2 years in UI/UX, full stack/web/game/app development experience (React/Unity preferred), and the ability to obtain SECRET clearance. Willingness to travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 2 years related experience in UI/UX for complex systems.
  • Experience in full stack web development, game development, or application development (React and Unity preferred).
  • Ability to work with government partners and DoD sponsors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Eligibility for SECRET clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to UI/UX design to influence current and future C2 systems.
  • Rapidly create wireframes, storyboards, and intuitive interface/data visualization designs.
  • Collaborate across teams to review results and propose user-centered solutions.
  • Shape requirements and use cases; influence DevSecOps for prototyping deployment.
  • Implement designs and maintain, test, and debug code.
  • Produce documentation for code framework, architecture, decisions, and user guides.
