Job Description:

Xenith Solutions is seeking a UI/UX Designer with agile methodology experience to join our team supporting the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Northern Virginia. The work is currently remote but will be based in Ashburn, VA, when operations return to normal.

Join our growing team supporting best practices in Agile Software Development for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a UI/UX Designer, you will serve as a Scrum team member, providing design and development for software delivery in short sprint cycles. You will collaborate closely with analysts, developers, stakeholders, and end users within Agile processes.

Responsibilities:

1. Design custom software capabilities for legacy and modernized systems with limited oversight.
2. Lead cohesive look-and-feel and standardized user experience across applications.
3. Collaborate with creative strategy, UX, visual design, development teams, and clients to create effective design strategies.
4. Create user-focused experiences aligned with business objectives.
5. Develop style guides, interaction patterns, and information design standards.
6. Develop wireframes, mockups, prototypes to communicate ideas.
7. Establish layout and style libraries across applications.
8. Work with functional teams to assess feasibility and improve designs.
9. Ensure quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of design work.
10. Mentor junior team members.

Qualifications:

Required:

• U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass background checks.
• Degree in Interactive Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or Human Factors.
• 3+ years of experience in visual, interaction, or experience design.
• Experience with web applications, responsive design, and user-centered approaches.
• Knowledge of modern front-end systems (Angular) and design tools (Sketch, Invision, XD).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in an agile environment.

Desired:

• Design Thinking certifications.
• Experience with web accessibility standards (Section 508).
• Knowledge of information architecture.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
