Job summary

BI Incorporated in Boulder, Colorado is seeking a UI/UX Designer to lead end-to-end product design across BI’s product portfolio. You will collaborate with product managers and engineers to conduct user research, create interaction and visual design solutions, and build prototypes for usability testing.

The role requires three years of design/engineering experience, a strong portfolio, and proficiency with Figma.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years in Engineering or User Experience Design.
  • Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Must live in the US 3 of the last 5 years (military and study abroad included).
  • Portfolio of design projects.
  • Knowledge of wireframe tools.
  • Experience with usability testing, generative in-depth interviews, tree testing, and card sorting.
  • Excellent web application design and native mobile design for iOS and Android.
  • Proficiency with Figma for design, prototyping, and collaboration.
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-user, multi-tasking software capabilities and constraints.
  • Outstanding team player.
  • Experience with self-organizing teams.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly and professionally communicate with Product Manager and Scrum Team.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to information stored in operational databases.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

  • The UI/UX Designer gathers and evaluates user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers.
  • Evaluates the usability of existing applications to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conducts user testing of applications, software and websites.
  • The UI/UX Designer creates and implements interaction models, user flows, and user interface specifications.
  • Partners with product managers and engineers throughout delivery, clearly communicating design intent, specifications, and rationale to support accurate implementation.
  • The UI/UX Designer illustrates design ideas using tools like storyboards, process flows and sitemaps.
  • Designs graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets.
  • The UI/UX Designer builds page navigation buttons and search fields.
  • Develops UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like.
  • Prepares and presents rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots UX problems (e.g. responsiveness).
  • Conducts user research and synthesizes findings into actionable design direction.
  • Contributes to and maintains design standards and documentation.
