Job summary

BI Incorporated in Boulder, CO is seeking a UI/UX Designer to lead end-to-end product design across BI Incorporated's portfolio. You will collaborate with product teams to conduct user research, create interaction and visual designs, build prototypes, run usability tests, and translate feedback into improvements addressing client needs and growth opportunities.

The role requires several years of UX design experience, strong communication, and proficiency in Figma and wireframing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Computer Science or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years in Engineering or User Experience Design.
  • Portfolio of design projects.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Ability to work on contract with client approval.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers and evaluates user requirements with product managers and engineers.
  • Evaluates usability of existing applications to improve.
  • Conducts user testing of applications, software and websites.
  • Creates interaction models, user flows, and UI specifications.
  • Partners with product managers and engineers to communicate design intent.
  • Illustrates design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps.
  • Designs GUI elements like menus, tabs and widgets.
  • Builds navigation buttons and search fields.
  • Develops UI mockups and prototypes.
  • Presents rough drafts to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots UX problems.
  • Conducts user research and translates findings into design direction.
  • Maintains design standards and documentation.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Computer Science or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • At least three (3) years in Engineering or User Experience Design.
  • Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role.
  • US citizenship required.
  • Ability to receive client's approval to work on contract required.
  • Must live in the US 3 of the last 5 years (military and study abroad included).
  • Portfolio of design projects.
  • Knowledge of wireframe tools.
  • Experience with usability testing, generative in-depth interviews, tree testing, and card sorting.
  • Excellent web application design and native mobile design for iOS and Android.
  • Proficiency with Figma for design, prototyping, and collaboration.
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-user, multi-tasking software capabilities and constraints.
  • Outstanding team player.
  • Experience with self-organizing teams.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly and professionally communicate with Product Manager and Scrum Team.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to information stored in operational databases.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities
Summary

The UI/UX Designer is responsible for end-to-end product design across BI Incorporated's product portfolio. Collaborates with the product team to conduct user research, create interaction and visual design solutions, build prototypes, run usability testing, and synthesize user feedback into design improvements that address our clients' needs and help us grow our customer base.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • The UI/UX Designer gathers and evaluates user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers.
  • Evaluates the usability of existing applications to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conducts user testing of applications, software and websites.
  • The UI/UX Designer creates and implements interaction models, user flows, and user interface specifications.
  • Partners with product managers and engineers throughout delivery, clearly communicating design intent, specifications, and rationale to support accurate implementation.
  • The UI/UX Designer illustrates design ideas using tools like storyboards, process flows and sitemaps.
  • Designs graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets.
  • The UI/UX Designer builds page navigation buttons and search fields.
  • Develops UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like.
  • Prepares and presents rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots UX problems (e.g. responsiveness).
  • Conducts user research and synthesizes findings into actionable design direction.
  • Contributes to and maintains design standards and documentation.
