Job summary

SAIC in Huntsville, AL, seeks a motivated UAS Software Engineer to join the S3I JSIL Tech Center. You will collaborate across teams to address bugs, implement features, and ensure seamless software integration with hardware and networks.

You will sit at the customer site in Huntsville with a Secret clearance, performing software development, documentation, and optimization for large-scale systems. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years' work experience; 9 years with Bachelor's in lieu thereof.
• Strong experience with object-oriented programming in Java, C++, and C#.
• Extensive experience using GitLab CI/CD for automation and pipelines.
• Scripting proficiency in Bash, Python or PowerShell, incl. automation tasks.
• Solid understanding of computing architectures and virtual machines.
• Proficient command line in UNIX or Windows environments.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with managers, hardware and network engineers to map requirements to software.
• Develop, debug, and optimize software for large-scale UAS systems.

Description

SAIC is seeking a motivated and ambitious UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) Software Engineer to join the Software, Simulation, Systems Engineering and Integration Directorate (S3I) Joint Technology Center – Systems Integration Lab (JSIL) Tech Center. The UAS Software Engineer will collaborate with other developers, testers, and cyber personnel to address bugs and add new features to the codebase. The candidate will sit at our customer site in Huntsville, AL.

Job Duties

• Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborate with managers, hardware engineers, network engineers, and other stakeholders to implement system requirements and ensure seamless integration between software, hardware, and network components.
• Innovation & Technology Evaluation Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends, new tools, frameworks, and methodologies that improve the development process and system performance.
• Documentation & Communication Responsible for creation of detailed technical documentation, including system designs, APIs, and architectural diagrams. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executives.
• Software Development & Optimization Support the design and implementation of software solutions, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code. Assist with efforts in debugging, and optimization for large-scale systems.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• Intermediate level Bachelors degree and five (5) years of work experience; four (4) years of additional experience in lieu of degree.
• Senior level Bachelors degree and nine (9) years of work experience; four (4) years of additional experience in lieu of degree.
• Strong experience with object-oriented programming in multiple languages such as java, C++, and C#.
• Strong experience using Gitlab CI/CD.
• Strong experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell including the automation of system and application installations is required.
• Strong understanding of general computing system architectures and virtual machines.
• Strong command line experience with UNIX based operating system or Windows command line configuration is required.

Required Clearance

• Must possess an active Secret security clearance with the ability to maintain; US Citizenship required.
