Job summary

COLSA Corporation seeks an experienced UAS Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design, integration, and testing of small unmanned aircraft systems from concept through production. You will develop mechanical designs, perform structural analyses, and ensure designs meet ASME Y14 and customer requirements.

The role requires 5+ years in aerospace/UAS design, advanced SolidWorks skills, and experience with SolidWorks PDM and engineering change processes. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical design in aerospace/UAS.
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (surfaces, solids, top-down assembly).
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14 drafting standards and GD&T.
• Experience administering SolidWorks PDM Professional (configuration management, change workflows, revision control).
• Experience developing and managing engineering change packages (ECR/ECN/ECO).
• Experience taking UAS hardware from concept to qualification and into production.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Develops mechanical designs, assemblies, and architectures for sUAS platforms.
• Performs structural analyses and design evaluations for performance and reliability.
• Designs and integrates structures and hardware using SolidWorks.
• Supports prototype development, testing, and environmental qualification.
• Collaborates with manufacturing to improve manufacturability and repeatable production.
• Manages engineering documentation, revisions, and change orders per standards.
