Job summary

COLSA Corporation seeks an experienced UAS Mechanical Design Engineer to support design, development, integration, and testing of small unmanned aircraft systems across the full product lifecycle. You will create mechanical designs, perform analyses, and ensure robust, manufacturable solutions for Group 1/2 UAS platforms.

The role emphasizes SolidWorks modeling, PDM administration, and engineering change management, with stringent adherence to ASME Y14 and customer requirements. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on mechanical design in aerospace, robotics, defense, or UAS.
• Advanced SolidWorks proficiency: complex surface/solid modeling, top-down assembly, sheet metal, weldments.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14 drafting standards and GD&T.
• Experience administering SolidWorks PDM Professional (configuration management, change workflows, revision control).
• Experience developing/managing engineering change packages (ECR/ECN/ECO) including manufacturing impact.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Develops mechanical designs, assemblies, and system architectures for sUAS platforms and flight-critical hardware.
• Performs structural analyses, trade studies, and design evaluations to support performance and reliability.
• Designs and integrates mechanical structures using SolidWorks.
• Supports prototype development, hardware integration, testing, and qualification activities.
• Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing to improve manufacturability and repeatable production.
• Manages engineering change documentation (ECR/ECN/ECO) and document control.
• Ensures drawings and documentation comply with ASME Y14 and customer requirements.
