Qualifications

  • Knowledge of race preparation and competition environments, such as course inspection, tactics, and basic race organization or event coordination.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate young athletes, collaborate with other coaches, and maintain professional relationships with families.
  • Commitment to athlete safety and well-being, including adherence to risk management practices, emergency procedures, and relevant coaching guidelines.
  • Prior experience as a head coach or lead coach in alpine skiing or a similar sport; experience working with U12 or youth age groups is highly beneficial.
  • Relevant coaching certifications (e.g., US Ski & Snowboard or similar governing body), or willingness to obtain certifications within a defined timeframe.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying mountain weather conditions for extended periods and to meet the physical demands of on-snow coaching

Role Description

The U12 Development Ski Team Head Coach is responsible for leading and managing the U12 alpine development program, with a focus on technical skill progression, safety, and fostering a positive team culture. This full-time, on-site role in Olympic Valley, CA includes planning and conducting daily on-snow training sessions, dryland conditioning, and skill-specific drills appropriate for youth athletes. The Head Coach designs seasonal training plans, organizes participation in local and regional competitions, and provides constructive feedback to athletes on technique, tactics, and sportsmanship. The role involves clear communication with families and program staff, coordinating schedules and logistics, and ensuring all coaching activities adhere to resort policies and industry safety standards. The Head Coach collaborates with other coaches and departments to align the U12 program with the broader Palisades Tahoe athlete development pathway.
