Job summary

Palisades Tahoe seeks an experienced U12 Development Ski Team Head Coach to lead the alpine program, plan on-snow sessions, dryland conditioning, and age-appropriate drills for youth athletes. You will design seasonal plans, coordinate local competition participation, and provide constructive feedback to improve technique and sportsmanship.

The role is full-time, on-site in Olympic Valley, CA, requiring clear communication with families and staff, adherence to safety standards, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Strong alpine skiing expertise, including advanced technical skills and experience coaching youth athletes in a competitive or development-focused program.
• Background in training design and athlete development, including creating age-appropriate training plans and implementing safe, progressive skill-building sessions.
• Knowledge of race preparation and competition environments, such as course inspection, tactics, and basic race organization or event coordination.
• Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate young athletes, collaborate with other coaches, and maintain professional relationships with families.
• Commitment to athlete safety and well-being, including adherence to risk management practices, emergency procedures, and relevant coaching guidelines.
• Prior experience as a head coach or lead coach in alpine skiing or a similar sport; experience working with U12 or youth age groups is highly beneficial.
• Relevant coaching certifications (e.g., US Ski & Snowboard or similar governing body), or willingness to obtain certifications within a defined timeframe.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying mountain weather conditions for extended periods and to meet the physical demands of on-snow coaching

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct daily on-snow training sessions tailored to U12 athletes.
• Lead dryland conditioning and sport-specific drills.
• Design seasonal training plans aligned with the Palisades Tahoe athlete development pathway.
• Organize participation in local and regional competitions.
• Provide constructive feedback on technique, tactics, and sportsmanship; communicate with families and staff.
