Job summary

Palisades Tahoe is seeking seasonal ski team coaches for athletes aged 4-9. You will help develop fundamental skiing skills while fostering a joyful, safe team environment and upholding the curriculum set by the Head Coach. Must be 18+ and ready to contribute to a dynamic program.

Responsibilities

• Know and adhere to schedule, time and attendance expectations.
• Foster a fun, safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate team environment for all athletes.
• Set up quality training environments: transport and install necessary equipment for training, safety and security.
• Implement team training as directed by the Head Coach and Manager; ensure curriculum quality and athlete experience.
• Execute the long-term athlete development plan to support skill growth, engagement and retention.
• Demonstrate adaptability in changing training environments and interpersonal situations.
• Maintain quality and appearance of Ski Team facilities and signage.
• Comply with company policies and procedures including safety and travel rules.
• Communicate professionally with athletes, parents and staff.
• Collaborate with coaches, staff, and other departments.
• Attend trainings and meetings and contribute positively.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach, Manager or Director.

Job Summary

The coach's primary goals are to help young skiers develop strong fundamental skills, learn to be part of a team, and gain joy and passion for skiing in a fun, safe, and challenging team environment. Openings for coaches of all levels who will work with athletes ages 4-9 participating on Alpine Rangers, Mountain Rangers, Shooting Stars, or Mighty Mites teams.

Ski team coaches are responsible for the successful implementation of curriculum as developed and communicated by the Head Coach, Manager, and Director. Our mission is to provide the best development opportunities for personal and athletic achievement while instilling passion for snow sports and appreciation of our Olympic history, legacy and legendary mountains. Success is measured by the quality of the athlete and employee experience, athlete success through skill acquisition and performance in skill assessments, parent satisfaction, and athlete and employee retention.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range: $18.00 - $25.92 per hour

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks

• Know and adhere to schedule, time and attendance expectations
• Foster a fun, safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate team environment for all athletes
• Set up quality training environments: transport and install necessary equipment for training, safety and security including closures, signage, training poles/panels, drills and other
• Implement team training as directed by the Head Coach and Manager; accountable for the quality of curriculum and athlete experience delivered
• Execute against the long-term athlete development plan, supporting athlete skill development, engagement, and retention
• Demonstrate adaptability in changing training environments and interpersonal situations
• Help maintain quality and appearance of all Ski Team facilities and physical plant including Team Center, on-mountain training facilities, signage and program imaging and other
• Stay current and adhere to company guidelines, policies and procedures including but not limited to: Employee Ski & Ride Policy, safety, behavior, appearance, travel, time and attendance and other
• Communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, parents, guests, and fellow employees
• Collaborate effectively with coaches, staff, and other departments
• Attend and positively contribute to required trainings and meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned and agreed to with Head Coach, Manager and/or Director

• Contribute to the quality of overall staff, including coaches and administrative staff, to deliver exceptional guest experience

• Maintain awareness of team and company initiatives and communicate relevant information to athletes and families when appropriate

• Remain current with required certifications and licenses, and stay informed of industry best practices and trends
• Meet with supervisor as needed for performance discussions and assessments

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, and ski/snowboard. Employee must be capable of skiing or snowboarding in all types of terrain in varying and sometimes hazardous snow and weather conditions. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, up to 90% or more of a normal work shift. Must be capable of frequently or constantly balancing, reaching, squatting, bending, kneeling, stooping, handling and twisting. May require out of the ordinary skiing or snowboarding movements in order to assist children on the mountain. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting. pushing or pulling up to 75bs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to extreme cold, wetness and/or humidity, and occasionally blizzards and extreme storm conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: This job may experience atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odor, dusts, mists, gases, ventilation. The noise level in the work place is usually moderate.

Equipment Used in Job: hand tools, small power tools, bags or large duffels, bamboo poles, ropes and rope spools, banners, shovels, gates/poles, skis or snowboard

Safety/Protective Equipment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to wear eye protection, gloves, masks, helmet.

Job Qualifications

Required:

• Prior experience working and/or volunteering with youth
• Extensive skiing experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency and willingness to use mobile devices and online applications for communication, scheduling, training updates, and program administration.

Preferred:

• US Ski & Snowboard Certification
• PSIA or IFSA Certification
• Prior coaching or instructing experience
