Job summary

Thorlabs Inc. is seeking a seasoned Controller for the U.S. to oversee the corporate accounting department and deliver timely financial statements, audits, and budgets. The role includes forecasting, policy development, and improving data integrity across multiple sites.

Based in Newton, NJ, the candidate will occasionally travel to other Thorlabs locations and collaborate with a global team to optimize financial processes and drive value for the company.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years related experience with consolidations, eliminations, foreign subsidiaries and management responsibilities.
• Experience in payroll, banking, credit lines and mortgages.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and US taxation required.
• Manufacturing experience including inventory costing and accounting.
• Experience in a global, multi-location business and strong General Ledger system knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversee complete and accurate General Ledger analysis and establish new accounts as needed.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and COGS; identify cost reductions.
• Complete monthly financial statements within set timelines.
• Prepare domestic financial statements and support GAAP compliance.
• Assist in accounts payable and payroll processes; ensure tax compliance.
• Assist in accounts receivable management and year-end closing tasks.
• Support corporate income tax compliance and use favorable tax codes.
• Contribute to internal controls and policies to strengthen governance.
