The successful candidate will join the P-MixSwitch project, collaborating with the University of Arizona to study how small marine mixoplankton switch between photosynthesis and predation.

The role involves wet-lab experiments, transcriptomic analyses, bioinformatics, manuscript preparation, conference talks, and mentoring undergraduates.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biology, Microbial Ecology, Biological Oceanography, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a related field required.
• Experience with molecular biology techniques and/or microbial culturing is required.
• Experience with transcriptomics, RNA sequencing, and/or bioinformatics is preferred.
• Experience with data analysis in R or Python preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Susquehanna University and the University of Arizona researchers.
• Conduct laboratory experiments with algal cultures and RNA extractions.
• Analyze transcriptomic datasets using bioinformatics approaches and prepare manuscripts.
• Present findings at scientific conferences and mentor undergraduate researchers.
