Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalency required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with basic laboratory practices, including sterile/aseptic technique and careful record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cultures of marine prasinophyte algae and bacterial prey, including media preparation and sterile technique.
• Set up, optimize, and monitor fed-batch continuous culture experiments and characterize growth phases.
• Coordinate experiment timing with visiting collaborators and maintain backup cultures for sampling campaigns.
• Conduct routine sampling and assist with analyses (flow cytometry, cell counts, biovolume, chlorophyll, nutrient, and radioisotope uptake).
• Assist the PI and postdoc with processing and analyzing samples.
• Assist with data management, record keeping, and laboratory organization.
