Job summary

The University of Arizona’s Duhamel Lab in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology is hiring a part-time Laboratory Technician to support a NSF Biological Oceanography project. The role involves maintaining algal cultures, coordinating experiments, and assisting with sample analyses.

You will work closely with the PI and postdocs, coordinate with collaborators at Susquehanna University, and help manage data and lab organization.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years of basic lab experience and careful record keeping.
• Experience with sterile/aseptic techniques and routine lab procedures.
• Willingness to work part-time in a collaborative research lab.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cultures of marine prasinophyte algae and bacterial prey.
• Set up and monitor continuous culture experiments and growth phases.
• Coordinate experiment timing with collaborators and maintain backup cultures.
• Conduct routine sampling and assist with analyses (flow cytometry, cell counts, nutrients, radioisotope uptake).
• Assist in processing samples and data management, and keep organized lab records.
