Facility: 1 Health Cir - Lexington CP05 Carilion Medical Center.

Hours: Primarily Monday - Friday; days with one weekend per month required. Will also cover other shifts as needed.

Job Summary

The multi-modality Radiology Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures for radiological diagnosis or treatment of patients, using injection skills as needed, and other related techniques to produce images for interpretation by a radiologist or other credentialed specialist.

Qualifications

CT experience strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certification: AARRT registry, registry eligible. If not registered in CT, must become CT registered within 2 years. AHA BLS-HCP required; may require BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.

Education: High school graduate or GED. Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology or related imaging technologies, or other approved training in Angiography, Diagnostic Radiology, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasound required.

Experience: none

Other: Interpersonal, technical skills and flexibility in assignments. Must be able to function independently. Must have good computer and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Operate highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images. Performs IV contrast injections and other skills as required.
May schedule and register patients. Maintain patient files.
Evaluate, prepare, position and observe patients with a high degree of professional ethics, care, courtesy, patience and safety.
Comply with all Carilion Clinic and Imaging policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines.
Train students and staff as assigned.
Interpret information needed to identify patient's requirement relative to specific needs and provide care per applicable policy and procedures.
Interact with patients, families, visitors and all members of the healthcare team to develop, coordinate and manage the plan of care.
Work with physicians, other healthcare providers and patients.
May provide care at other Carilion facilities to meet patient needs.

Modality Specific Registries

Mammography must obtain registry within 24 months.
MRI Technology: Certified/registered by the ARRT in MRI or certified/registered in an Imaging profession by the ARRT, NMTCB or ARDMS or a candidate for the MRI advance certification by meeting the ARRT candidate requirements. 2 years to complete advanced MRI certification.
Breast Ultrasound must obtain registry within 24 months.
