Job summary

Engineered Floors is seeking a Twister Operator to feed the twisting machine with raw fiber, monitor processes, and ensure product quality. You will remove twisted yarn, place it on buggies, and manage yarn packaging per specifications.

The role requires standing for long periods, strong hand dexterity, and the ability to pass a color vision test. High school diploma or GED is preferred, with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supply twisting machine with raw fiber as needed.
  • Patrol, service, and monitor twisting machine and process quality.
  • Remove twisted product and place on buggies or boxes as instructed.
  • Verify case labels against spec sheets for each machine.
  • Doff TNH packages per doff schedule and move to adjacent creel.
  • Refill buckets with raw yarn and replace empty tubes.
  • Tag positions needing repair and restart equipment as needed.
  • Keep area clean and report accidents immediately.

The purposes of the Twister Operator are to Supply the twisting machine with raw fiber needed, Patrol, service, and monitor continuously the twisting machine, its processes, and the quality of the product. Remove the twisted product from the machine and place it on buggies or boxes as instructed.

  • Follow all Safety, Plant & Quality Guidelines
  • Acquire Raw Yarn Buggy from that machine’s bullpen. Do not pull yarn from neighboring machines.
  • Verify the case label with the spec sheet for that machine.
  • Doff the TNH packages according to the doff schedule posted on each machine.
  • Remove the remaining package from the bucket and place it in the adjacent creel.
  • Tie the creel yarn using a Weaver's Knot with ¼” to ½” tails.
  • Refill the bucket with Raw Yarn from the Raw Yarn Buggy for that machine.
  • Replace empty yarn tubes with replacement packages of yarn.
  • Compare every tube’s merge # to the spec sheet as you place them in the bucket.
  • Put tube caps on raw yarn in creel if specified on the spec sheet.
  • Repair and restart immediately any position that breaks out.
  • Keep every position running at all times unless you are working on it.
  • Tag any position that needs repair.
  • Remove TNH yarn from the conveyor.
  • Place the TNH yarn on a buggy or pack it in a box as the spec sheet and/or the supervisor's instructed.
  • Clean your assignment and work area toward the end of each shift.

Performance Expectations (if applicable):

  • Follow printed & spoken instructions & specifications effectively.
  • Able to stand for long periods.
  • Hand dexterity sufficient to handle packages and operate splicer or tie weavers’ knots as specified.
  • Able to lift & place numerous 12-20 lb. packages per shift.
  • Aptitude to pass a color vision test if needed

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • All accidents must be reported immediately.
