Job summary

Mohawk Industries is seeking a production operator to set up, operate, and tend to yarn twisting machinery in our Dalton, GA plant. You will load yarn, monitor output, and perform quality checks while following established safety procedures.

This role requires basic math, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Previous yarn or manufacturing experience is preferred, with training provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creel and load yarn into twister.
• Position buggies and stage tubes for winding.
• Thread ends, operate spindle, and repair breakouts.
• Doff twisted yarn and transfer to buggy.
• Monitor production output and ensure safe operation.
• Maintain spindles through cleaning and dechoking.
• Perform quality checks using visual/black light methods.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
• General housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

Job description

Primary Objective

In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

• Set up, operate, and tend to many machines organized into a frame that twist yarn together.

Major Function and Scope

• Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twister
• Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters and stage tubes for winder operation
• Thread ends of single yarns, operate the spindle, and repair breakouts during production runs
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them from the conveyor to a buggy/container
• Monitor production output and machine equipment for safe and efficient operation
• Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain machine efficiency and meet production requirements
• Perform quality checks using black lights to check yarn
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Successful completion of all required on the job training
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
• Previous Yarn or Manufacturing experience is preferred
