Nyman Associates is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide itinerant vision-related services in school-based settings. You will deliver Braille instruction, orientation and mobility support, and adapt curriculum to meet accessibility needs, while contributing to student goals within IEP teams.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers and families, ongoing professional development, and a supportive educational community to help students succeed.

Qualifications

• Certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) is required.
• Experience with visually impaired students preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide itinerant vision-related educational services to students with visual impairments or blindness.
• Deliver individualized instruction including Braille and orientation & mobility support.
• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments.
• Adapt curriculum and materials to ensure accessibility within classrooms.
• Develop accommodations and specialized learning materials based on student needs.
• Participate in IEP teams, write goals, and monitor progress.
• Plan and implement lessons tailored to students’ visual and educational needs.
• Maintain accurate documentation and submit required reports.
• Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to support inclusion.
