Job summary

Candor Consulting & Diagnostics seeks a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to empower students with visual impairment and support ARD teams in IEP/IFSP planning. You will foster independence, equity, and academic success across classrooms.

Responsibilities include Braille literacy, assistive tech, daily living skills, and collaboration with families and mobility specialists. TX VI certification preferred; bilingual skills a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Vision Rehabilitation, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Certification: TX Educator Certification in Visual Impairment (EC-12) by TEA; ACVREP orientation and mobility specialist preferred but not required.
• Additional requirements: knowledge of IDEA and ARD; CPR certification preferred.
• Language: bilingual skills preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop IEPs/IFSPs with ARD committees to address the needs of students with visual impairments.
• Deliver Braille literacy, assistive technology, daily living skills, and compensatory strategies.
• Collect and analyze progress data; adjust instructional approaches to meet IEP goals.
• Collaborate with general educators, mobility specialists, related services, and families; participate in ARD meetings.
• Advocate for accommodations and accessibility to ensure equity in education.
• Prepare students for post‑secondary outcomes and independent living.
