Job summary

Candor Consulting & Diagnostics is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support students with visual impairments in Texas. You will develop IEPs/IFSPs, deliver Braille literacy and other core curricula, and collaborate with ARD committees and families to ensure equitable access.

The role emphasizes independence, academic success, and transition planning, with a focus on safety and adaptive technology use in school and community settings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Vision Rehabilitation, or a related field is required.
  • A Master’s degree in Education of Students with Visual Impairments or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid Texas Educator Certification in Visual Impairment (EC-12) issued by TEA is required.
  • ACVREP Certification as Orientation and Mobility Specialist is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of IDEA and ARD processes is required; CPR certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and IFSPs with ARD committees.
  • Deliver instruction in Braille literacy, assistive technology, daily living skills, sensory efficiency, and compensatory skills.
  • Monitor student progress data and adjust instructional strategies to meet IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families; participate in ARD meetings and multidisciplinary discussions.
  • Advocate for accommodations, modifications, and assistive technologies to ensure equitable access to the curriculum.
  • Prepare students for post-secondary education, vocational settings, and independent living.
