Job summary

Sylvan Learning in Oak Lawn, IL is seeking a dedicated tutor to join our educational team. You will work with students across elementary to high school levels, focusing on reading, language arts, and/or math, delivering personalized instruction.

You set your schedule, with hours 4-7pm Mon–Thu and Saturdays, and Sylvan handles lesson planning, parent meetings, and administrative tasks. Ideal candidates are state-certified teachers with a Secondary Education PEL, able to use learning technology

Qualifications

• State-certified teacher with a PEL in Secondary Education.
• Ability to work 6–10 hours a week between 4–7pm Mon–Thu and Saturdays 10:00am–2:00pm.
• Proficiency with learning technology to facilitate instruction and engage students.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with diverse learners.
• Interest in teaching ACT/SAT prep adds value.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalized instruction in reading, language arts, and/or math for students across elementary to high school.
• Adapt lessons to individual learner needs and track progress.
• Collaborate with Sylvan staff and communicate with parents as needed.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate tutor to join our educational team! The ideal candidate will have experience tutoring or teaching reading, language arts, and/or math. This role involves working with students of various ages including elementary, middle school, and high school to provide personalized instruction.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in utilizing learning technology to facilitate instruction and improve student engagement.


• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with diverse learners.


• A passion for education and a commitment to helping students succeed academically.


• Higher salary for candidates with the ability to teach additional subjects including ACT/SAT prep.
