Job summary

Sylvan Learning Center is seeking energetic reading teachers to guide students in a fun, supportive environment. Teach grades 6–12 with a focus on grammar, comprehension, and composition using pre-planned lessons, in small groups of three. Local candidates only; reliable transportation required and the role is not remote.

Open for weekday afternoons, summer mornings, and Saturday sessions with flexible hours. Bachelor’s degree required; teaching credentials recommended for some subjects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required, Teaching Credential recommended (required for some subjects).
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Local with reliable transportation and punctuality are essential.

English and Reading Teachers Wanted for Fun After-School and Summer Tutoring! Sylvan Learning Center is looking for fun, dedicated teachers to help and inspire students. We are currently looking for teachers who are able to teach reading at a 6-12 grade level, with a preferred focus on grammar, upper level comprehension and composition.

Sylvan creates individualized learning plans for students of all abilities. Working with groups of only three students, you will be responsible for leading instruction and motivating students to be successful. There is no lesson plan to create, no homework to grade, no parent-conferencing, and scheduling is flexible. Enjoy all of the benefits of teaching, without any of the downsides!

What you should know:

• You will use pre-planned lessons. They are straightforward, easy to manage, and fun to teach.
• Teach students in a small group setting. There will be no more than 3 students per teacher.
• Most teachers choose to work 2-5 days/week
• We are open for instruction weekday afternoons, weekday mornings in the summer and Saturday mornings.
• This is NOT a remote position

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree required, Teaching Credential recommended (required for some subjects)
• You must enjoy teaching, working, and inspiring students. (We want you to be happy here!)
• Being punctual is extremely important. You must be local and have reliable transportation.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
