Job summary

Sylvan Learning Center is seeking enthusiastic K-12 teachers to deliver engaging tutoring in Reading, Writing, and Math. We support elementary, middle, and high school students with early literacy, SAT prep, and higher-level math.

Sessions are in small groups (maximum three students) with pre-planned lessons, flexible part-time shifts, and on-site work. Candidates with credentials and tutoring experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Four year degree or equivalent required.
• State teaching credentials preferred (current or expired).
• Minimum of one or two years of teaching/tutoring experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Phonics, Reading Comprehension, & Grammar preferred for reading/writing teachers.
• Ability to support foundation Math Facts Fluency up to Algebra - Calculus preferred for math teachers.
• Ability to implement manipulatives/resources into the provided lessons.
• Ability to multi-task and manage up to 4 students at a time.
• Knowledge of tablet computers preferred.

K12 Teachers Wanted for Personalized Tutoring!

Sylvan Learning Center is looking for fun, dedicated teachers to help and inspire students. We are currently looking for elementary, middle school, and high school teachers able to support a variety of grade levels in Reading, Writing, and Math. Special attention to teachers with Early Literacy Background, SAT Prep experience, and Higher Level Math.

Additional subjects we occassionally need support in: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, French, or Spanish

Sylvan creates individualized learning plans for students of all abilities. Working with well-behaved groups of only three students, our tutors are responsible for leading instruction and motivating students to be successful. There are no lesson plans to create, no homework to grade, no parent-conferencing, and scheduling is flexible. Enjoy all of the benefits of teaching, without any of the downsides!

What you should know

• If you enjoy teaching, working with, and inspiring students, this is the job for you. (We want you to be happy here!)
• You will use pre-planned lessons. They are straightforward, easy to manage, and fun to teach
• Teach students in a small group setting. There will be no more than 3 students per teacher
• Most teachers choose to work 2-5 days/week
• Availability for multiple shifts in the afternoon 4:30pm-7:30pm or Saturday mornings 9:30am-1:30pm
• Also looking for retired or substitute teachers able to support homeschool families in the mornings Mon-Thurs 9:30am - 12:30pm.
• This is NOT a remote position
