Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal is hiring a senior restructuring leader for its New York City office. You will direct turnaround initiatives, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and interact with senior clients to drive value and stabilize financially distressed organizations.

You will oversee plans across strategy, cash conservation, and stakeholder negotiations, with heavy emphasis on leadership, finance, and operational improvement. Expect extensive travel and a high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of work experience in corporate restructuring, investment or commercial banking, and/or consulting or corporate roles with a financial or accounting focus.
• 5+ years of direct restructuring experience.
• BA/BS degree and/or MBA/MS in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional certifications such as CTP, CIRA, CPA, or CFA are preferred.
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.
• Ability to identify key operational performance drivers and cash-flow forecasting.
• Experience leading and mentoring junior staff.
• Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, able to convey information at all levels.
• Willingness to travel 100% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute restructuring and turnaround plans to improve performance and enterprise value.
• Provide day-to-day team management to ensure plans, budgets, and schedules are met.
• Act as the point of contact for assigned workstreams within client engagements.
• Perform and oversee analyses on company business plans.
• Review 13-week cash flow and 3-statement models for clients.
• Lead clients through working capital improvements, bankruptcy prep, liquidation analysis, and negotiations.
• Assess key business operational performance drivers.
• Develop and review cost-reduction initiatives and milestones.
• Review bankruptcy plans and 363 sale processes.
• Implement cash conservation guidelines and controls.
• Train, mentor and evaluate junior staff.
