Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. in San Carlos, CA, is hiring a propulsion hardware engineer to own turbopump design, interfaces, fabrication and testing. You will define what to prove by analysis and on the stand, and drive hardware to flight readiness.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience across design, build, test, and aerospace materials selection, with GD&T expertise and a strong background in turbomachinery.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and GD&T, with tolerancing knowledge.
• Knowledge of turbomachinery fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience from design through build and test.
• Experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes for high-stress, high-cycle apps.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of turbopump components from concept through hot fire testing and flight.
• Integrate constraints from hydrodynamics, aerodynamics, structures and thermals.
• Control configuration and pedigree across build, test and refurbishment cycles.
• Drive hardware through fabrication, first-article review, and nonconformance disposition.
• Build verification plan, decide what is proven by analysis vs on the stand, then close both.
• Ensure test readiness, request instrumentation, and support data reduction for tests.
• Troubleshoot anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
