Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking a Powerpack Engineer Level III to own turbopump design and verification from concept through flight. You will develop CAD definitions, GD&T, material specs, and test plans for a high-stakes space propulsion component.

The role requires hands-on hardware experience, deep turbomachinery knowledge, and the ability to integrate hydro, aero, and thermal constraints while maintaining rigorous configuration control. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering field.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and in producing released, manufacturable design definitions with GD&T.
  • Working knowledge of turbomachinery fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware from design through build and test.
  • Experience selecting materials and manufacturing processes for high-stress, high-cycle applications.
  • U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card) or eligible for required authorizations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical design of turbopump components and assemblies from concept through testing and flight, including CAD models, tolerances, GD&T, material specs, and analysis.
  • Integrate hydro, aero, structures, secondary flow, and thermal constraints into a cohesive turbopump design.
  • Manage configuration control and pedigree across build, test, and refurbishment cycles.
  • Drive fabrication, first-article review, and nonconformance disposition.
  • Develop the verification plan, decide what is analyzed vs. tested, and close both.
  • Ensure test readiness, request instrumentation, and perform data reduction for tests.
  • Troubleshoot anomalies, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
