Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking a Level I turbomachinery engineer to own turbopump components within a larger engine assembly. You will design inducer, impeller, volute, or turbine hardware, work beside machinists, and participate in testing and data review.

Responsibilities span CAD modeling, drawings per GD&T, hand calculations and FEA, and turning multiple physics constraints into manufacturable geometry. You will help on the shop floor and support test campaigns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and materials.
  • Experience taking a mechanical design through hardware build and test.
  • Proficiency with CAD and engineering drawings to GD&T standards.
  • Knowledge of FEA tools applied to structural or thermal problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design turbopump components under guidance, creating CAD models and drawings.
  • Run hand calculations and FE analysis; compare with test data.
  • Turn constraints from hydro, aero, structures into workable geometry.
  • Collaborate on the shop floor with machinists and technicians.
  • Support first article review and disposition of nonconformances.
  • Assist with test instrumentation requests and test-day shifts.
  • Maintain part configuration and pedigree records across builds.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and participate in root cause investigations.
